WWT Welney Wetland Centre in Norfolk, takes in 1,000 acres of the northernmost part of the Ouse Washes which is Britain’s largest areas of seasonally-flooded land. Welney supports countless wetland species including breeding populations of black-tailed godwit, redshank and snipe and we attract mass winter gatherings of many thousands of wild ducks and swans.

We are seeking a hardworking and proactive Reserve Warden to help manage and enhance the biodiversity of the reserve to deliver a positive future for this amazing site, the staff and volunteers that work there and all of its visitors and supporters.

The role will support the practical management and enhancement of the nature reserve at WWT Welney, including the development and management of wetland habitats, reserve infrastructure and species monitoring.  You will also be working to find new opportunities for both visitor engagement and habitat enhancement for new pioneering species. 

To join as our Reserve Warden you’ll need:

-        a good mix of practical conservation and engagement experience with a track record of supervising staff and volunteers

-       experience of working in a reserve management role with extensive experience of using machinery e.g. brushcutters, tractors, chainsaws

-       a proven ability to engage and enthuse the public, in person and through social media platforms, about nature and wildlife
