You will perform the duty as a first line manager to lead, manage, coach and develop your team of zookeepers and voluntary workers being responsible for all zoo lower vertebrates and invertebrates. Our resort is home to a 15-acre zoo, 4-star hotel with 150 bedrooms to include Viking and Thomas Land themed rooms, conference facilities, restaurants, Europe’s only Thomas Land, 50 rides and growing! 

Your Responsibilities as a LVI Team Leader will include but not limited to;

• Ensure that the zoo is strictly operated in accordance with health and safety policies standards and procedures.
• Coordinate the actions and decisions of zoo staff during drills and emergencies
• Woking closely with the Head of Zoo Operations on the efficient deployment of staff to deliver first class standards of animal welfare
• Regularly audit COSWP compliance, proactively manage instances of non compliance
• Being a strong advocate of the zoo at Drayton Manor, educating and empowering guests to help species from extinction
• Perform the duty as a first line manager, lead, coach and develop you team of zoo keepers and voluntary workers

Key Skills and attributes as a LVI Team Leader

• level 3 qualification in animal management/science
• 5 years experience withing with a range of herps and inverts in an EAZA Zoo
• Good standard of written communication
