Primary Objectives

 ·         Work with the Plymouth sound National Marine Park (PSNMP) team to deliver a “Sea in Your School” programme to Primary schools in Plymouth to help develop the next generation of marine citizens inline with the NLHF outcomes.

·         To act as an interface between schools in the City of Plymouth and PSNMP, through the delivery of the “Sea in Your School” and other engagement programmes over the 5 year delivery phase of the project.

·         To represent the Ocean Conservation Trust as a stakeholder and one of the five pillars of the PSNMP through delivery of the mission: “Connecting us with our Oceans”.

·         Ensure that both PSNMP Brand & Narrative and the OCT conservation strategy is woven into the engagement plan for the OCT based PSNMP activities.

·         To adhere to the Core Values of the OCT which are: Positivity, Respect, Integrity, Diversity and Inclusion and Engagement.

 

Responsibilities

 ·         To coordinate the planning and delivery of all aspects of the “Sea in Your School” programme across the city of Plymouth.

·         To ensure that all PSNMP activities that are included within the “Sea in Your School” programme achieve the NLHF outcomes. 

·         Measure, analyse and review activities to achieve the most effective outcomes, completing evaluation as defined by the agreed framework for the PSNMP Project.

·         To manage budgets and report spending as appropriate.

·         To support the OCT Ocean Schools programme where needed.

·         To be part of the wider PSNMP team, attending team meetings and contributing to the wider team and project as required.

 

Programme Delivery (70%)

 ·         To work collaboratively with the Schools Programme Manager and Ocean Advocacy and Engagement Manager to ensure high quality delivery of the “Sea in your School” programme (as defined in service level agreement) and other PSNMP activities.

·         Market and recruit the required schools to enrol in the formal learning programme of the NMP Schools project.

·         To play a key role in the creation and maintenance of programmes of study for the project.

·         Liaise with and enlist other organisations to ensure a varied and engaging programme is offered.

·         To lead on the planning, delivery, and administration of the virtual aspects of the NMP Schools project.

·         Work with local teachers to co-create a series of learning resources that support engagement with the National Marine Park. These resources will be link the National Curriculum, Ocean Literacy Principles and site specific information to promote a positive relationship with the National Marine Park.

·         Create and maintain a publicly visible platform on the OCT website to host the learning resources and live Virtual Tours event dates.

·         To lead on the planning, delivery, and administration elements of CPD courses annually.

·         To play a key role in the evaluation of the formal learning programme of the NMP Schools project.

•         To manage budgets and report spending as appropriate.

•         At all times to behave in a safe and responsible manner in accordance with company Health & Safety policy and the requirements of Health & Safety legislation relating to your responsibilities and to promote and act in the employers best interest.

•         Undertake training as deemed appropriate to your role.

•         To maintain reporting channels to line managers and provide regular written reports of project progress as required.

•         To participate in extraordinary duties as required.

•         To carry out other activities as appropriate on the instruction of the CEO and other members of the senior management team.

Operational (30%)

 •           To act as Duty Manager of the Aquarium as needed.

•           To participate in extraordinary duties as appropriate on the instruction of the extended or senior management teams.

•           At all times to behave in a safe and responsible manner in accordance with company Health & Safety policy and the requirements of Health & Safety legislation relating to your responsibilities and to promote and act in the employers best interest.

•           Undertake training as deemed appropriate to your role.

•           To adopt a flexible approach to working hours to ensure the viability of NMA operations (this includes the occasional public bank holidays, evenings and weekends)
